Fiorentina v Atalanta

Sunday Night

We return tonight to the Artemio Franchi as league leaders and I suspect we will be given a hero's welcome.

The team is slowly coming together. A somewhat complex, interesting identity is forming within this team. We are strong, we maintain possession , we attack regardless of the scoreline and we have plenty of depth. The only possible missing piece is perhaps Giuseppe Rossi. Rossi scored in the 0-4 win over Belenenses last Thursday and once again, like Fiorentina going top last week, served as an indicator of the changing momentum of this club.

Atalanta always provides a welcome test for us to test our general benchmark. I feel that they are stronger than they have been in recent seasons and we will have to be careful with how we decide to go about this match. Atalanta have not only beaten Sampdoria in last week's round of fixtures but also very impressively beat Empoli the week before. Atalanta too are starting to build a momentum of their own. If Sousa thought Belenenses was more important than this match against Atalanta, I'm sure his priorities have changed by now.

I know we've been playing 3-4-2-1, but I suspect it's an away formation. We'll see anyway.

Fiorentina 3-5-2 (Attacking):

Tatarasanu

Tomovic - Gonzalo - Astori

Blasczykowski - Valero - Badelj - Marcos Alonso

Mati Fernandez

Kalinic - Illicic

Gomez - Denis - Moralez

Kurtic - De Roon - Grassi

Drame - Toloi - Paletta - Massiello

Sportiello

Atalanta 4-3-3:

8:45 Europe. 2:45pm Boston. 5:45am Melbourne. 9:45pm Bahrain.
