Palermo v Fiorentina
Wednesday Afternoon
...and we're back.
We're in the cold and rainy part of the season now. So we'll have to see how our football copes with the more English style conditions. We may be in for some thunderstorms here in Palermo, so it should actually make for some entertaining viewing for anybody watching.
Once again, we are all over the press - not that I would have it any other way - with regard to players that may be brought and players we brought ages ago. A common thread running through each of these is 'loan with option to buy'. Loans can be tricky but we've been generally successful so far. We'll also have to manage the team's concentration on matches through what is going to be an inevitable period of endless transfer speculation and activity.
Blaszczykowsky is still on the unavailable list which leaves us with the creative and now settled Bernadeschi, otherwise we are fine. The only Gonzalo missing from this match will be Palermo's Giancarlo Gonzalo.
We have slipped in the table and it would have been better if we could come back into the season top of the table as this would have made things a bit clearer. However, importantly, we are playing first. If we win, we are guaranteed to go back to the top. Inter take on the fantastic Empoli at 5pm and Napoli take on the almost as fantastic Torino at 7:45pm, so this thunderous match in Sicily could well be one of the biggest opportunities of the season.
Live from the Stadio Renzo Barbera, it's Palermo v Fiorentina.
