This is another one that has been bothering me for a while...it's scary to think what we could have done with a crop of top quality youngsters coming through meshed with some of our legends of the 80's. Obviously, I could've made it easy and did a 1990 Croatia WC squad but that would have been over in 10 minutes and not very interesting.
1.Tomislav Ivković (27, Tirol) GK
2.Zoran Vulić (26, Hajduk)
3.Zoran Vujović (29, Bordeaux)
4.Drago Čelić (25, Hajduk)
5.Velimir Zajec (32, Panathinaikos) [Captain]
6.Srećko Bogdan (31, Karlsruhe)
7.Aljoa Asanović (22, Hajduk)
8.Bla Sliković (29, Pescara)
9.Zlatko Vujović (29, Bordeaux)
10.Marko Mlinarić (27, Dinamo)
11.Boro Cvetković (25, C.zvezda)
12.Mauro Ravnić (26, Rijeka) GK
13.Zlatko Krmpotić (29, Genclerbirligi)
14.Mladen Munjaković (26, Dinamo)
15.Robert Prosinečki (19, C.zvezda)
16.Davor Jozić (27, Cesena)
17.Robert Jarni (19, Hajduk)
18.Stjepan Deverić (26, Dinamo)
19.Zlatko Kranjčar (31, Rapid Vienna)
20.Zvonimir Boban (19, Dinamo)
Coach: Miroslav Blaević
Real pity Ivan Gudelj (27) was finished at the end of '86 due to illness, he would have been the team's best player and added even more of a Hajduk flavour the NT.
I think one only realises how strong this squad is when you see the names of those not included...some guys I didn't include because I know it wouldn't go down well with certain folks here (e.g. I know alchemist is already questioning the inclusion of Boro Cvetković).
Zoran Varvodić (24, Hajduk)
Draen Ladić (25, Dinamo)
Nikola Jerkan (23, Hajduk)

Ivica Barbarić (26, Vele)
Igor timac (20, Hajduk)
Zvjezdan Cvetković (28, Mannheim)
Milivoj Bračun (30, Elche)
eljko Cupan (24, Dinamo)
Saa Peron (23, Rijeka)

Nenad Gračan (26, Hajduk)
Branko Karačić (27, Hajduk)

Davor uker (20, Osijek)
Ivan Cvjetković (28, Sint-Truiden)

Standard 4-5-1 formation...

--------Krmpotić------Vulić--------Zajec------Zo.Vujović------
-----Boban---Sliković--Munjaković--Asanović-----Mlinarić---

Alternatively, not sure if Ćiro was using his 3-5-2 back then but this wouldn't have been bad...
