San Iker's place in history?

samedi 5 décembre 2015

At the end of the 20th century, the IFFHS also voted on the World's Goalkeeper of the Century, won by the Soviet Union's Lev Yashin running ahead of Gordon Banks and Dino Zoff.

We all know the Italian (Zoff) was better than that overrated Englishman! And some even rank Peter Schmeichel ahead of Gordon Banks.

It's only a two-way battle in The 21st century: Iker Casillas v Gigi Buffon! (Neur still has a long way to go)

Quote:

With over 150 caps for his national team, Casillas is the third captain in football history to lift the World Cup trophy, the Champions League trophy and the European Championship trophy, after Franz Beckenbauer and Didier Deschamps. Having won the IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper Award for a record five consecutive years, he is considered as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, placing second behind Gianluigi Buffon in both the IFFHS Best Goalkeeper of the past decade and quarter-century awards in 2010.
YASHIN is untouchable for now, BUFFON still has a shot at surpassing him.
Is he better than BUFFON? No!
Is he better than ZOFF? I don't believe so…
Is he better than BANKS? OH YES!

So where does the Spaniard rank? He's clearly the greatest RM GK of all-time. The greatest SPANISH GK of all-time.

5 league titles
3 UCLs
2 Euro Cups
1 FIFA WC

So where does he rank in footy history?
Here's Dags' take:

1. YASHIN/BUFFON
2. BUFFON/YASHIN
3. ZOFF
4. CASILLAS

TOP 4, is that a reasonable spot?

What say you?
